Drive a quad bike yourself for 4 hours; this off-road adventure through remote African villages, farmlands and plantations will allow you to admire baobabs and spice trees, taste delicious tropical fruits and stop at the village to greet the locals.
You will be picked up from your hotel. Starting from Kiwengwa (Kairo), you will drive on the main road towards Pwani Majangani, for about 4 km. The tour usually stops for a few minutes at a local shop where you can buy food to offer to the village (flour, rice, biscuits for children). Guests are encouraged to support the local community. After this short stop, you will leave the tarmac road to drive the quad off-road through the rice fields, where your guide will stop for about 15 minutes to explain the economy, culture and habits of the villages in the central part of the island.
After this explanation, the tour continues through the environment of the island to arrive at the local village. At the village, you will stop for about 1 hour. Travelers will have the opportunity to stay with the children, play with them, and be in contact with the village community. After this first contact, your guide will offer travelers some fresh local fruits (Madafu, fresh seasonal fruit).
The tour will then continue to Mad’s House, a typical rural village house, while your guide will discuss the life and culture of the Zanzibari people. Before getting back on the quad bike, guests will visit plantations of cinnamon, cloves, lemongrass and other varieties, which are grown by the villagers. You will finally leave the village driving towards Pwani Majangani to reach the fishermen’s village.
At the village, you will stop for a few minutes to explain the difference between the rural village and the community based on the coast of the island. Following the sandy road, passing the fishermen’s houses, you will arrive at the Waikiki Resort, where you will stop for about 15 minutes. At Waikiki, you will enjoy a Focaccia (typical Italian white pizza). You will have a rest at the beach, relax and take a bath in the ocean, before getting back on the quad bike and ending the tour by returning to the main area. You will be dropped off at your hotel.
